How to Make Sticky Posts in WordPress Easily

If you want to showcase your most important posts at the top of your site, you should know how to make sticky posts in WordPress. Usually, WordPress shows posts in reverse chronological order. It means that by default, WordPress puts the most recent posts at the top.

So, when we add more posts, the older ones move down and are eventually moved to the archives. But the “sticky posts” feature lets you show your most important posts from any time frame.

In this post, I’ll discuss how to show sticky posts on both the default WordPress home page and a custom home page.

What is Sticky Post?

A sticky post is the same as putting your article on the front page or a billboard. It puts the most important article, the one you want your readers to read, at the top of the blog.

The best way to show them is as posts, but the information they hold is not time-sensitive. You want them to be at the beginning, no matter when they were published. These posts are called sticky because they are always on the site’s front page.

In WordPress, we call this a sticky post because you put a post at the top of the page.

Purpose of Making a Sticky Post?

There are many advantages to using sticky postings. In short, sticky posts gain more exposure and traffic! If you want to ensure that people read an important notification or post, place it at the top.

Similarly, you can resurrect old blog posts using a sticky post. Regular content creation might be challenging. Rather than creating fresh content, you might revive an old post and place it at the top of your site. Ensure that the content remains relevant, accurate, and engaging for your readers!

Occasionally, commercial or global events might make particular blog postings more relevant. In this case, you would want to place it on top.
