WooCommerce business owners are interested in a variety of tactics for increasing sales. The order in which WooCommerce goods are presented can significantly impact conversions. In this post, we will examine one of the WooCommerce reordering options, WooCommerce Product Sorting.
This article describes what product sorting is and how you can sort WooCommerce products. So, without further ado, let’s get started.
What is WooCommerce Product Sorting?
WooCommerce Product Sorting allows users to refine their product searches to quickly and easily locate the desired items. It seems straightforward, right? But brace yourselves; it is more complicated than that.
WooCommerce Product Sorting can be pretty advantageous for both customers and merchants. Customers, for instance, rank things by Best Seller/Most Viewed alternatives when searching for the most popular product and by Newest Option for freshly introduced items.
In turn, this will improve their UX and purchasing experience, which will eventually please the seller behind the screen.
Product sorting Options of WooCommerce
With WooCommerce’s default settings, you can rearrange products in multiple ways. So, let’s check them out!
Default WooCommerce Sorting
- The WooCommerce customizer can be accessed through Appearance → Customize → WooCommerce.
- Then go to the Product Catalog section.
- Under default product sorting, there are five choices for setting the default product display sort.
These are:
- Default sorting with custom ordering and name.
- Sort by Price (asc)
- Sort By Price (desc)
- Average rating
- Sort by most recent
- Popularity (sales)
Global Attribute and Attribute Value Sorting
So, if you want to add or modify your global attribute for variable products, you can do that in WooCommerce.
- For that, go to Dashboard→Products→Attributes.
Suppose you want to add color and size for products; you can add them here. You can also select sorting order here. You’ll see Custom order, Name, Name numeric, and Term ID. The name clarifies exactly how they sort.
- Then you can go to the configure terms to add different colors (attribute values).
You’ll also see a dragging option to sort out the colors (values) as per your own sequence.
And the same thing goes for the size attribute.
Then again, let’s assume you want to show the colors attribute first and then the size attribute for a specific product. You can do that as well.
- Just go to the product page → edit product.
- Scroll down a little bit, and you’ll see product data.
- Select attributes, and you’ll see the Size and Color attribute.
You’ll have the dragging option to sort them just like this.
Menu Order
So, on your shop page, suppose you want to showcase a specific product in the first position.
To do that:
- Click on that product.
- Click edit product.
- Scroll down a little bit, and you’ll see product data.
- Select Advanced, and you’ll see a menu order option.
- Give the value 0 if you want to showcase that product in the first position.
If you have multiple products with the value 0, the shop page will showcase those products alphabetically.
